Captain Price was originally to appear in the mission Cliffhanger, and the player would control John "Soap" MacTavish. There are also two cut lines of dialogue that would have originally been heard during the minigun sequence one where an unidentified US soldier urges another to get his men onto a evacuation transport, and another where a civilian transport identified as Atlas One-One reports that it is ging down two kilometres west of Dupont Circle before it either crashes or explodes in mid-air. In the Remastered version, some of the dialogue is restored and it is possible for combat effectiveness to be reduced to 50% if playing on Hardened or Veteran difficulties, but again it cannot be entirely removed. While combat effectiveness cannot go lower than 80% in the release version, cut dialogue indicates that it was originally possible for the site to lose more and more combat effectiveness, with a drop to 30% or below resulting in an audible change in radio operators (the original operator presumably being killed by Russian fire), a report that desperate civilians are taking up arms, and eventually culminating in a complete loss of combat effectiveness with the site being overrun by Russian forces and the civilians being lost. If the player stalls when asked to provide sniper support for the Washington Monument evacuation site during " Of Their Own Accord", the radio operator may say that the site's combat effectiveness is dropping.
